Celebration Foods choose 2X to replace Citrix!How 2x has change our business and made our lives easier at Celebration Foods A while back we were running Citrix MetaFrame 3.x although we owned a fully licensed version of Terminal Server, this was before my time here at Celebration Foods; Celebration Foods is the makers of Carvel ice-cream, Cinabun and other delicious delights. As the senior engineer here at Celebration Foods I was receiving calls and hearing my users frustrations about Citrix’s disconnects timeouts and other bugs Citrix has, not to say terminal server does not have it’s own but it’s a much smaller footprint and stable product than Citrix. We worked closely with John at 2x to come up with a plan to replace Citrix and to deploy 2x Application Server and 2x Application clients within our Company. I was amazed on how the process was simple and easy to deploy, I had all 120 workstation installed in less than 1 hour using Active Directory and Opra to modify the msi file. I had to deploy MAS 500 to all our sites after we upgraded from MAS 500 version 6 to 7.5 and 2x’s software played a major par. All users from our three plants spanning from the West Cost to the North East run 2x application clients, our sales force uses it to run reports in Salient and Home users uses it to connect and work when they are out of the office. We’ve been running 2x now for over 9 months and I have not had any problems “(knock on wood).” We have four terminal servers and two load balancer working perfectly, my load balancers are running on two older dell 1600 servers and the four terminal servers are running on Dell PowerEdge 1950’s. Now we are building a new plant and we are planning to replace all the desktops with terminals using RDP and connecting to 2x servers. Selling the idea to management was as easy as 1, 2, 3 because they have faith in 2x’s stability and easy of deployment. The pricing was a major factor in choosing 2x application server over Citrix; we paid 1% of the cost it would cost us to upgrade to Citrix 4.0. Management and I personally are very pleased with 2x’s application server for terminal server and we plan to continue using it in our business for a very long time.
